In this post I will explain how to send your funds from Coinbase to Exchanges so you can trade them for Alt coins.
1. The first step is to purchase your coins, explained in my Getting Started post
2. Once you have your coins on Coinbase, it's time to make an account on an Exchange.
There's a lot of Exchanges out there, most have different coins and some are locked to new registrations for the time being. But they do open registrations randomly so it's always good to check back. The best method is to DYOR (do your own research) and figure out which alt coins you would like to invest in.
Some of my favorite picks are DRGN (Dragonchain), XRP (Ripple), ADA (Cardano), BAT (Basic Attention Token), CVC (Civic), TRX (Tron). This is not financial advice to invest in these coins, there's thousands of coins out there.
But as for Exchanges that I use here's links below to get started.
3. Once you've signed up for an exchange, make sure you enable the 2FA (2 Factor Authentication). This is enabled the same way Coinbase was with the Google Authy Application.
4. To send your funds from Coinbase you need to go to your wallet on the Exchange first, on some sites it's called Funds, but the methods are usually identical.
5. Go to your wallet, find the coin that you want to transfer. If you purchased, BTC, LTC, ETH. Find the wallet that corresponds with that coin. We will use the KuCoin Exchange and LTC as an example
6. Once you've logged into KuCoin, click the $ sign in the top right corner
7. Click on Deposit, make sure you're not on withdraw
8. Use the drop down menu to select LTC (LiteCoin)
9. Once you've selected LTC, copy the full address, double check to make sure you have the entire address selected, if you don't then you could lose your coins forever.
10. Now that you have your address copied, head over to Coinbase and go to your LTC funds
In the top right corner you will see a icon in the shape of an airplane. Select this to send the funds.
11. Type in the amount that you would like to send, this is shown in USD value, so if you want to send $1000, just type in 1000. Once you have the amount selected hit send.
12. The next page is where you will input the address that you copied from KuCoin, paste the the address in the section that says "To email or LitecCoin Address" (You can leave the Notes blank)
Double check that the address is correct, then hit send. This usually takes around 15-30 minutes for LTC to send, longer for BTC and ETH usually. So be patient. It may say completed on Coinbase but not show on your KuCoin wallet, just check back every 20 minutes or so.
13. Now that you have your funds on the Exchange, it's time to trade for alt coins. This will be explain in the next part of this series Here > How To Trade on Exchanges
